The elimination of Sean Winter in third place ($117,190) brought the 28-entry $25,500 High Roller - Event 68 in the 69-tournament LAPC - down to two of poker’s premier female players in the penultimate tournament of the 6-week-long series.
Heads-up play drew Maria Ho and Kristen Bicknell to opposite sides of the felt.
$276,690 for the winner - $180,070 for the runner-up.
The clock moved past midnight, to Ho’s birthday. The rail gathered included Ho’s boyfriend, Event 66 High Roller winner Rainer Kempe standing alongside Bicknell’s boyfriend, Alex Foxen. As Matt Savage said, two of poker’s power couples were participating in the event, two of the game’s top players squaring off heads-up.
Savage brought the final of the tournament to the poker community via his Twitter live feed as Maria Ho celebrated her birthday with the High Roller title.
Everyone in the money earns Poker Central High Roller of the Year leaderboard points. Cary Katz, instrumental in setting up the High Roller events with the LAPC, was the stone bubble in both $25k High Rollers this series and was also the bubble last yer in the LAPC High Roller.
Winter - with his 3rd-place finish, moves to the top spot on the Poker Central leaderboard.
