"I'm pretty excited. It was a long final table. I came in 3rd in chips and immediately lost three big pots so I was pretty short most of the day. I just couldn't get anything going but then we got down to 3-4 handed and I hit a good rush and won all of the chips."
Tieman admits that he is fairly new to Omaha 8-or-Better. Usually a No-Limit Hold'em or Pot-Limit Omaha player, Tieman has taken well to the transition of the split pot variety.
"I was feeling pretty good. I played the Limit O-8 and got 12th there so finished short of the money but I felt like I was playing well and I'm kind of new to the limit version of the game. It's just kind of a different game for me I'm used to Pot-Limit and No-Limit so betting like 1/8 of the pot is unusual for me. It's more of a math based game you have to calculate pot odds in all these situations."
This event provided a unique wrinkle in that play would flip from Limit to Pot-Limit. That presented a number of challenges, namely how aggressively to play one version over the other. For Tieman, he was mainly focused on not over thinking things, and simply played the cards in front of him.
"I'm definitely a lot more comfortable playing Pot-Limit over regular but I kind of felt like I should just play the hands dealt. In either game you can't bluff that much you can bluff a bit but you kind of have to have a strong hand to get involved."
Tieman said after the victory that the rest of his LAPC schedule is up in the air.
"I'm not sure if I'm going to stick around for the Main and the $5k PLO. I'm kind of on the fence about that. I'm playing pretty much all of the mixed games. I'm looking forward to that."
Be sure to stay tuned to our coverage to find out if Tieman can keep his string of impressive results going!

Tomorrow is the fourth and final flight of the biggest event of the schedule so far, the $1,100 buy-in $1 Million Guaranteed Event. After three flights, we have already exceeded the guarantee, and we fully expect tomorrow to be the biggest flight of them all, meaning we could easily be looking at $1.5 million in the prize pool, if not more. That flight will be starting up at 12 PM, with registration open until 4:30 PM.
At 6 PM, we are running another Rebuy event. That tournament has a buy-in of $150, and unlimited $100 rebuys will be allowed until 9:30 PM. This event has a guarantee of $50,000, and is a two day event ending on Sunday at 3 PM.
We wrap up the night with another $1,100 Main Event Satellite. Like all the ones before, it will be guaranteeing at least two $10,000 Main Event Seats. It should be a great day of poker action, so don't miss out!

You have two more chances to earn a discounted seat to this massive $1,100 Event, and your first chance just started. This is a $175 buy-in mega satellite that will be guaranteeing at least ten $1,100 seats. Registration for this satellite will be open until 7:15 PM.
If you can't brave the rain for this one, we have a $150 satellite at 9 PM where the WPT is adding extra seats to the guarantee. Another ten $1,100 seats, at least, will be handed out in that satellite as well.

Kelly Minkin stormed onto the live poker scene in 2015 after she finished third in the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open for over $260,000, and followed that up with being the last woman standing in the WSOP Main Event when she finished 29th, earning another massive score of over $200,000. But her big run that year started right here at the LAPC, when she took down a $570 buy-in $250,000 Guaranteed Event for over $54,000.
The part-time player is a full-time attorney in Arizona, and comes up to Commerce Casino on the occasional weekend to try and bink another big score. She is here today, and she decided to have a little fun with her Twitter followers. Yesterday, Minkin tweeted the following..
Her tweet has gotten over 200 responses and nearly 70 retweets. Minkin has taken her seat in today's flight, and we will be sure to keep tabs on her throughout the day. Good luck Kelly!Headed to @LAPC for 1m GTD event! Follower's closest guess to my end of day1 chip count gets 2% 🤗 RT w guess for 3% #illestfreeroll #15kss— illy (@The_Illest) February 16, 2017

It might be raining cats and dogs outside, but that hasn't put a damper on the numbers for this flight. So far, 352 players have entered, meaning we over $900,000 with two and a half hours still left to register. Of course, we also have tomorrow's flight, which will be the biggest of the fourth, so we are looking at close to $1.5 million likely in the prize pool. Come down and join us!
